2006 Pink Floyd The Dark Side of the Moon Cabernet Sauvignon 3-Bottle Pack

2006 Pink Floyd The Dark Side of the Moon Cabernet Sauvignon 3-Bottle Pack

Listening to Pink Floyd’s The Dark Side of the Moon over and over on his iPod, Mark ventured into new territory in winemaking. To capture the intense, brooding character of The Dark Side of the Moon he turned to a classic wine variety, Cabernet Sauvignon. A varietal with a deep, complex character that takes a relaxed environment to fully appreciate, Cabernet Sauvignon reflects the hauntingly dense, timeless character of Pink Floyd’s masterpiece album.

Tasting Notes The 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon captures the attitude of Mendocino County’s style. Aromas of black currant and cherry are followed by rich flavors of cassis, toasted vanilla bean, and hints of chocolate. Enjoy this rich dry red wine with hearty chicken dishes, beef and lamb, and red-sauced pasta.

My wife and I sat on the patio in our backyard with the Ipod blairing 'The Dark Side of the Moon' while drinking the delicious Pink Floyd wine and watching the Fourth of July fireworks do there magic. It was enchanting. Thank you Wines That Rock!

Grab a Kleenex and sop up those tears Joe. Then relax in your La-Z-Boy, drink a Coke and you'll be feeling better in no time. If that doesn't help you may need to go get yourself a new Kotex.

Well THIS was a big surprise! I was expecting some kind of crappy novelty wine, not much better than a bottom-shelf grocery-store selection, charging 75% more than it's worth just for the fun name. I ordered it just out of curiosity (and because, hey, it's PINK FLOYD!), on the off chance that these guys were actually serious. Imagine my surprise when I found out they are!

This is no flat, lifeless bottom-shelf novelty. This is a Cabernet of superior character and exceptional complexity. The first aromas that hit the nose are ripe berries and cherry, with the slightest hint of raisin. Once you sip, the black cherry really stands out, made richer with a pretty solid streak of creamy vanilla and then sumpin' sorta smohkeeeeh hits you, without being overly woody. It has a rich mouth-feel, with round, velvety tannins that are just a wee bit potent, but not too. Layers of cooool density caress your buds, and the fruit flavors are incredibly vibrant without the chewy jam that you find in so many Napa/Sonoma Cabs.

It's the complex layers that, I think, tie in with the theme. The classic album that this wine is named after has so many layers of sound, meaning, and emotion. Drinking this multi-layered, smoldering wine while listening to Dark Side of the Moon is a symbiotic experience. I'm not sure I would consider this wine as brooding and atmospheric as the album...the fruit is just a little too bright...but it is an immensely pleasurable drink, offering a similar sensory overload as its rich namesake music.

This is my new favorite wine!! I'm not even what I would call a sophisticated wine drinker, but this is by FAR my favorite red right now. It is complex enough to eat with fliet mignon, which my husband and I have been doing all summer, and tastes great with chocolate. I asked for it at my local wine store, and now those guys all love it too! Get this wine, or be left out in the cold.
